Case Study
To better understand what NEMESYS is capable of, we carried out a case study of a large aircraft manufacturing company. We verified the majority of projects carried out by the company's aircraft over twenty-two years. We research the costs involved in each project, the time of each project. With historical information from the American IPC for 22 years, we brought project costs to present value until the current year 2023, reaching a total of US$242.4 billion. We divided by 22 years to calculate the approximate estimated value for each year, which was US$11 billion and for smaller companies, we obtained an annual average of approximately US$1.5 billion.
Case Study
Time
Estimated time spent for each CFD project. According to research, the time spent on CFD projects for aircraft is estimated at 20% of the total time. Since of this 20% for each day of preparation for CFD simulation, 10 days are spent for simulation (1/10). In these ten aircraft projects, the estimated total days dedicated to CFD projects were 361 preparation days and 3654 simulation days for a total of 4015 days. When applying the use of the NEMESYS system, the total time of CFD projects drops to 351 days using only 8.73% of the time, a reduction of 91.27% of the total time. Representing an average annual saving of approximately 168 days and for smaller size companies, we obtained an annual average of approximately 110 days.
Case Study
Cost
We also research the estimated amount spent for each project. According to research, estimated costs in CFD projects for aircraft are around 20% of the total project value. According to studies carried out on aircraft projects, it is said that for every US$ 1.00 spent on preparing CFD projects, US$ 5.00 is spent on computer simulations. Across these ten aircraft projects, the total estimated cost dedicated to preparing for CFD simulation was $8 billion, and $40.4 billion for CFD simulation, a total CFD project of $48.5 billion. By applying the use of the NEMESYS system, the total cost of CFD projects drops to US$7.7 billion, 15.98%. A reduction of 84.02%. Representing an annual saving of approximately US$1.8 billion and for a smaller company this annual saving was estimated at US$250 million.
